The Last Wizard & Kingdom’s End
Two parts of one incredible story
Book One: The Last Wizard
The Last Wizard is John Bachkosky’s debut novel.
The wizards are gone. Or are they?
After his conquest against the wizards, the tyrannical king of Kyros, King Gjanion, uses alchemy to imitate magic and convince his subjects that he is the only surviving wizard. After an attempt on his life leaves him a widower, King Gjanion goes on a rampage against the rebellion that has risen up against him, plunging Kyros into total war. Deep in the royal library, while researching ways to quickly and decisively destroy the rebels, Gjanion discovers that there is more to his family tree than anyone knew: he is the descendant of Knorr, the God of Power. Knowing this, Gjanion becomes consumed with unlocking his latent powers, believing that nothing can come between him and total dominion over Kyros...and beyond.
As Gjanion nears victory years later, he encounters Mara, the true last wizard and the only one who can undermine his power. Fearing the exposure of his lies, the King tries to silence Mara, who fights alongside her family, friends, and the rebellion to help put a stop to Gjanion's power-crazed rule.
Book Two: Kingdom’s End
Kingdom’s End is the direct sequel to The Last Wizard, and John’s second novel.
The rebellion is broken.
King Gjanion's victory seems imminent.
Chased across the kingdom by General Mai and the king himself, Mara and what remains of the rebellion must find safe haven in the city of Varyn, the last free city in Kyros, and make their final stand. But amidst their plight, another power lurks undiscovered...
A Note from the Author
I strove to make The Last Wizard and Kingdom’s End a refreshing take on a well-explored genre and provide an immersive journey for any reader looking for an adventure. This story was inspired by great fantasies that came before it: from The Last Airbender series and Game of Thrones to The Broken Earth Trilogy and Harry Potter. Many shows, movies, and books alike influenced the development of these books (including both TLW’s original publication in 2020 and its re-release in 2021) and I hope that anyone who picks up a copy will enjoy the ride!
